If I was a Superhero…
If I was a Superhero, what kind of special power would I want to have? Maybe I would want to fly, to run fast, to be invisible, to be able to teleport or even to make things really small. The possibilities are endless – it is left to my imagination!
I wonder who the first person to think of some sort of superhero was. Was it someone who dreamed of someone saving them, or someone who wanted fame and fortune? Recently with some new movies coming out like Thor 2 and the show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., would I, like the characters in the movies have the guts to be the man to swoop in and save the helpless human or would I bail on my one chance.
I think that humans tend to come up with ideas or superheroes to make themselves feel safe and secure in the moment of watching the movie or reading the comic and to disappear from the world that they are in, which may have chaos and trauma all around them. It’s like a safe cage that they can go in and hide but when they stop reading or watching they feel vulnerable and helpless.
It’s interesting, whenever I watch a movie of someone achieving something, like becoming a pro sports player or superhero, I want to walk in the shoes of that person and I suddenly have the urge to get into that certain activity in order to feel like I have accomplished something. Does that ever happen to you?
On a separate note, who knows what kind of technology we will have in the next 20 years? Maybe we will have personal jetpacks and fly just like other superheroes. Time will tell whether we will have personal computers integrated in our eye contacts or flying cars. Is that all fantasy, or will it actually happen? Who can say?
In answering what kind of special power or what kind of superhero I would be. I think I will just stay as myself. I’d be a superhero by helping others and give them hope in their life when they are on the downhill of a rollercoaster and need to be brought back up.
So, would you rather be a famous superhero or be yourself, helping others in your normal everyday life? I think we need more people in the society like that, encouraging each other and assisting one another. So go out there, be yourself, and be a different kind of superhero, the best kind – a friend.
