Exam Pep Talk
Just try not to be inspired. TRY.
You’re going to be okay, and here’s why.
With exams just around the corner, I think we all could use a little pep talk. We all know it already, but this time of year can be so stressful. Whether it’s final exams, essays or presentations, it’s hard not to feel the pressure. And sometimes it’s easy to let the stress get you down. But I think it’s important to remember a few things to inspire you to keep working for a little bit longer…
1. Christmas is just around the corner. The snow is falling, the games lounge is decorated, and I’m pretty sure the radio is just playing Michael Buble’s Christmas album on repeat (hey, no complaints here). You are SO CLOSE to the holidays. Keep working, because let’s be real, the gift you really want to give your parents this Christmas is straight A’s.
2. You know you can do it. If you’re in first year, think back and remember the day you got your acceptance letter to University. Clearly, you wouldn’t have gotten into University in the first place if they didn’t think you could handle it. As for the upper years, you’ve been through this before. This isn’t your first rodeo. You’ve done it before, and you will do it again!
Either way, for both first years and upper years alike, you’ve all proven yourself countless times. You’re surrounded by kind, intelligent people who believe in you just as much as I do (Ben O’Callaghan is giving out free hugs, for crying out loud!). You’re fully equipped with everything you need to be successful. YOU CAN DO THIS.
3. “Sometimes you’ve got to work a little so you can ball a lot.” In my opinion, this is the most relevant quote for University students. Maybe it’s just me, but I need this reminder daily. To be honest, I have this quote on a post-it note in my room, because I think it sums up exactly how I need to approach University life. My hope it that it’ll work for you, too. The essence of it is simply to buckle down during exam time so you can enjoy yourself over the holidays. Working a little now may mean giving up some fun things for a short period of time, but trust me, you won’t regret it long-term. Short term pain = long term gain! Trust me on this one.
So don’t stress, pal. You’ve got this, I believe in you!
