Going for 10/10?

First, I would like to begin by letting it be known that I am an avid football (soccer) fan (being from South America, my second word as a baby was goal-second to mom). However, as the years wore on and many falls came and went, there has been a diminishing desire to watch this great game. "Why is this?", some of you may ask. Well, other than the fact that some of these players make enough money to feed an entire city, and that some of those players are so pompous and conceited, it would have to be due to the irrationally excessive and surprisingly theatrical diving. Some of these guys have gotten so good at diving that I am convinced that this could be an art form. The biggest stars and divas of the diving world include household names such as Ronaldo, Neymar, Busquets, the Italian soccer team and many others that I fail to think of at this time.
Techniques vary from player to player, and some may have even used a particular dive so many times as to warrant the achievement of that dive being named after them. Such techniques include: - the tripping over your own foot and look up helplessly at the ref technique. - the letting your foot drag to get in the way of another player and performing an intricate flipping dive technique. - the grabbing of an opponent hand and slapping your own face with it (true story) - and my favorite, the intentionally running into someone, falling and covering one's face writhing in pain, and then looking up to see if the officials are looking ( calling the trainers over well reading around is also a nice addition to this). All in all, it seems like the game has taken a shift from performances like Beckenbauer breaking his clavicle and yet continuing to play, to Ronaldo changing his hairstyle at halftime |
