Frosh-Upper Year Dinners: More Than Just a Great Meal
On the evening of Thursday October 24, myself, along with 3 other frosh, were given the opportunity to join some upper years for dinner. At 6:30 that evening we were picked up at the third floor foyer by the lovely Lily Hwang and driven to her house to enjoy a meal with the also wonderful Karen Martens. The hospitality of our hosts was on full display, and a tour of the large city house was given before the socializing could begin.
Serving people who are very familiar with the Grebel kitchen sets the bar pretty high for preparing a meal. However, the girls did not disappoint at all, as we were fed a delicious full course meal and enjoyed some lively conversations. Being proper guests we helped our hosts with cleaning up after the meal and only had one broken cup that had to be thrown out (Oops! It wasn’t me, by the way). The evening concluded with a group “family photo.”
These dinners are a great way to get an excellent meal outside of Grebel and enjoy friendly company while getting to know upper years you would not normally spend much time with. I hope that these dinners will continue to happen and highly recommend all frosh to sign up for one if given the chance. I’d like to give a big thanks to all of the upper year students who have graciously opened their homes to the frosh. It is much appreciated.
